Excel MID Function Syntax and Example

MS Excel MID Function:
Mid is a text function which returns/extracts  the middle  text of a string based on the starting position and no. of characters to extract.

Syntax:
=MID(String,  Starting Position, No. of Chars)

Here:
>> String is the string from which you extract the middle text.
>> Starting Position refers to the position from which the no. of characters has to extract.
>> No.of Characters to extract.

Example:

MID FORMULA
RESULT
Ravi-Teja@Reddy
 =MID(A2,6,4)
Teja
Ravi-Teja@Reddy
 =MID(A3,FIND("@",A3)+1,5)
Reddy
RaviTeja@Tollywood#143
 =MID(A4,FIND("@",A4)+1,LEN(A4)-FIND("@",A4))
Tollywood#143

Explanation :

 =MID(A2,6,4) 
This function extracts the characters from the String(A2) starting from the position 6.
